Restruct: Built back up from self-destruction
23/08/10 || Lord K Philipson
“Washington hard rock natives Restruct have been making serious noise on their side of the water as of late, chocking up sell out show after sell out show. On top of this Caffeinated drink company Rockstar have been quick to pledge allegiance with the band, with the aim to get them that much needed jolt in more ways than one.”
When you, in the first paragraph of the attached press sheet even, have to bring up the fact that Rockstar Energy Drinks is somehow involved with this band – you get a feeling their music might not be very marketable by itself. Maybe I should start off my future press sheets by stating that I am an Warrior Wear endorsee? Maybe not. Fuck, I hate these press sheets with all of my heart, by the way.
So, Reconstruct can drink energy drinks – that much is clear. What about their music then? Is their “rough nosed, but incredibly emotive slab of melody drenched metal that lends heavily from the swooning melodies of Faith No More and the ferocious grooves of classic Alice In Chains” shit anything to give a shit about?
Yeah, it is.
Reconstruct create some absolutely fine wimp/radio-“metal” that at times remind me of the great InMe, especially vocal-wise. As far as those Faith No More influences go – can’t say I hear them, but it doesn’t matter. Sure, there are some small Alice In Chains vibes in the vocal department as well, all coming across real fine. It sounds like these guys absolutely know what they are doing and I take a greater liking in Restruct than I thought I would after having to go thru that muthafucken press sheet. Not only do they have their music down, they have a great production as well to go with it.
With this album at hand – Restruct are not unlikely to get some recognition in-between the Nickelback’s, the Staind’s and whatnot’s in the world with the right company backing them up.
Sadly it seems like their bass player Jason died recently at the age of 40 – I hope they carry thru that loss and I wish them well for future endeavors.
